Making Money from Schools with Blackboard Inc. (BBBB)

Still paying back loans for college after all these years? How about buying this and that for your kids’ school fundraisers? Maybe you think the taxes you pay for public schools just isn’t giving your children high quality education. Blackboard Inc. can make you money (help pay off some of those loans? sounds good!) because it’s revolutionary products is the future of education. Making Money from Crime – Corrections Corp. of America

You have to start wondering what kind of accountants our government has when prisoners receive more of our tax dollars than our college students. For many states, it costs 2 or 3 times more to keep a criminal in jail than to put your kid through college. The worst part to me is we have no choice buy to pay taxes to keep criminals in jail, but we have to put up the tuition for our children out of our own pockets in addition to the taxes. When I see injustice (no pun intended…sort of) of this kind, especially with my money, I’m annoyed but I also look to get back some of that tax money through stock investments: Corrections Corp. of America (CXW). Facebook (with feeds) is now Stalkbook

It’s true! Now you instantly know what everyone and their mom is doing on Facebook! Obviously this was a big mistake (even the WSJ knows) on Facebook‘s part, but why did it take actually implementing the news feed system and the big backlash of complaints for Facebook to realize it and make the change? Maybe its ambition (to make Facebook better), greed (to attract advertisers and somehow monetize the damn thing), or likely both. Read the rest of this entry »

Intel Cuts Jobs out of Embarrassment

From CNet to ZDNet and the Wall Street Journal, the word is Intel Corporation (INTC) will cut between 10,000 to 20,000 of its 100,000 strong (or weak) workforce. My source puts the job cut count already at 3,000 with 13,000 or more coming soon, although Geekygirl seems relatively optimistic about her position at Intel ahead of the official job cut announcement on Tuesday, . That would put the layoff count near the upper range of the estimate, and the jobs being cut most likely won’t be limited to the marketing as reported in the Sacremento Mercury News. Military and War Junkie

Am I a military and war junkie? Probably. (my favorite TV shows include WWII documentaries on the History Channel, Stargate SG-1, Jack Bauer and 24, the movie Black Hawk Down, and the HBO series Band of Brothers.) Yes, I’m a guy, so the action and explosions gives me cheap thrills. Deep down (yes, there’s depth to Jeff), its about the truth of human nature, life, and being extra-human or superhuman. Only in extreme situations are people transformed, rather than just grow and mature from the routines of daily life. Growing and maturing are just steps, but transformations are leaps towards the great and powerful beings people can potentially be. Read the rest of this entry »

Series: Activism, environmentalism, and getting a clue – Pt. 2

In part 1, I alluded to the importance of being involved with those issues that you do understand (and not criticizing those that you don’t.) Here, I’d like to discuss the mob mentality, going along with the crowd, jumping on the bandwagon, yadda yadda yadda. The Regis Philbin Million Dollar Question is, does the crowd really know what its doing? Read the rest of this entry »

Series: Activism, environmentalism, and getting a clue – Pt. 1

To those of you who proclaim to care about the environment, protesting and being angry at the government, and wanting to make this world a better place- please, consider the points I’m about to make. There probably aren’t many people more sensitive to the problems in the environment than me. Air quality and chemicals have affected my severe allergies (refer to this previous aticle) and asthma to the point where I haven’t left my house or opened the windows for a month. With that said, I believe people are so confused about what’s actually happening. I’m not criticizing people for speaking out against the Government and Corporate America. I just want people to get a clue because my life actually does depend on the success of these movements. So, ask yourself, what works? Read the rest of this entry »

Sort of Married

Tis’ springtime. The season of looovve. The birds, probably the male birds, are chirping. People are animals. So like animals, this season has a special affect on people. People hooking up, making out, and … oh shizzle, getting married! Congratulations to those newlyweds and grooms and brides to be! Having done the formality of giving you my well wishes and blessing, what are you getting married for anyway? Is there any sanctity in marriage anymore? With the divorce rate as high as it is (I don’t know the exactly number, but its a very Whoa! number), the answer is no. Read the rest of this entry »

Project “Pop Engineering – Reeling in the Kids”

Sure, engineering does require technical competence which not every kid is interested in or have the discipline to achieve. To deal with this, I think we should ADVERTISE the fun interesting aspects to … trick the kids into going down this road. Once they’re hooked… “Gotcha!”… at which point they’d be motivated to learn the hard, technical stuff. Read the rest of this entry »

Julia Marie Bachison – The Perfect Girl? *Edit*

UPDATE: Julia now has her own website. Read about it here.

Thanks Mrs. Bachison (Miss Utah‘s Mom) for visiting this site!

If the position is still open, Im self-proclaiming to be Miss Bachison‘s #1 fan. Apparently, not everyone shares my view. Otherwise, Miss Bachison would be Miss America 2006and every guy in America would be fighting for her attention. When I first saw her on the Miss America show on CMT, I just thought she was the most beautiful girl Id ever seen (see previous post).

I was inspired to find out more about Miss Utah. Sure, there are a lot of girls out there (about 50% of the population?), and some of them are beautiful. However, having read the stories and news articles about Miss Bachison, her amazing character is what sets her apart from all the other beautiful girls and what makes her, at least in my opinion, the perfect girl. Here’s why Read the rest of this entry »
